On July 21, 2003, the Board of Disciplinary Appeals signed a judgment of disbarment against Houston attorney Chester Lash Thornton, 53, SBOT Card No. 19992500. Thornton pled guilty to falsely holding oneself out as an attorney, a third degree felony in violation of §38.122 of the Texas Penal Code, and an intentional crime as defined in the Texas Rules of Disciplinary Procedure, in Case Number 916118 styled State of Texas v. Chester Lash Thornton, in the 228th District Court of Harris County, Texas. On or about October 16, 2002, Thornton was placed on deferred adjudication probation for four years and ordered to pay a fine in the amount of $2,500 and to pay court costs in the amount of $197.25.
