In re Helen Tyne Mayfield

On July 31, 2012, the Board of Disciplinary Appeals signed a final judgment of disbarment against Houston attorney Helen Tyne Mayfield, 64, State Bar of Texas Card No. 24014721. On October 6, 2008, the Board of Disciplinary Appeals signed an interlocutory order of suspension against Mayfield because on or about July 30, 2008, Mayfield was convicted of three counts of forgery of a financial instrument, in violation of Texas Penal Code 32.21(d), an Intentional Crime as defined in the Texas Rules of Disciplinary Procedure, in case number 07-05453-CRF-361 styled, The State of Texas v. Helen Mayfield, in the 361st District Court of Brazos County, Texas and three counts of forgery of a financial instrument, in violation of Texas Penal Code 32.21(d), in case number 07-05454-CRF-361, styled, The State of Texas v. Helen Mayfield, in the 361st District Court of Brazos County, Texas. Mayfield was sentenced to 24 months in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for each count, the sentences to run concurrently. Mayfield appealed the conviction and on March 16, 2011 the Court of Appeals for the Tenth District of Texas issued its mandates affirming the convictions. BODA cause number 42845.
