STEPHEN T. LEAS v. Comm'n for Lawyer Discipline

On January 24, 2003, the Board of Disciplinary Appeals affirmed in part and reversed in part the judgment of a partially probated suspension against McAllen attorney Stephen T. Leas, 47, SBOT Card No. 12095255, dated July 9, 2002, from the Evidentiary Panel for the State Bar of Texas District 12B grievance committee in Case No. S2080103329. The Board affirmed the findings that Leas violated Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct 3.03(a) and 8.04(a)(3). The Board reversed the finding that Leas violated Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct 5.03(a) and 5.03(b) The Board further ordered that the sanction of partially probated suspension be reversed and remanded the matter to the evidentiary panel of the District 12B grievance committee for a sanction hearing. Leas appealed the Board's decision to the Texas Supreme Court in Cause No. 03-0140. The Texas Supreme Court affirmed the judgment without written opinion on May 22, 2003.
