On or about December 5, 2017, an Order/Per Curiam was entered by the Supreme Court of the State of Louisiana in a matter styled: In Re: Phil C. Nugent, No. 2017-B-1856, suspending New Orleans attorney Phil C. Nugent, State ABr of Texas CArd No. 00795934, Louisiana Bar Roll number 20038, from the practice of law for a period of eighteen months. The court found that he had filed two judicial complaints against a judge, as well as a petition for damages against the judge and Nugent's former wife, and that none of these filings had a factual basis. In the joint petition for consent discipline, Nugent admitted the following rule violations: 3. 1 Bringing a meritless claim; 8.4(a) Violating or attempting to violate the Rules of Professional Conduct; 8.4( c) Engaging in conduct involving dishonesty, deceit or misrepresentation; and 8.4(d) Engaging in conduct that is prejudicial to the administration of justice. BODA case no. 60518.
