On July 25, 2011, the Board of Disciplinary Appeals dismissed for want of prosecution the appeals of Abilene attorney William S. McCants Jr., 68, State Bar of Texas Card No.13363000, from a judgment of probated suspension and a judgment of public reprimand signed on December 6, 2010 by the Evidentiary Panel for the State Bar of Texas District 8-4 grievance committee in Case Nos.A0110812031 (47981) and A0010912158 (47982).McCants did not file a brief in either case and the Board issued Orders to Show Cause in both appeals to McCants on June 9, 2011, giving him 30 days to respond and show cause as to why the appeals should not be dismissed for want of prosecution. McCants did not respond.
