On April 22, 1993, the Board of Disciplinary Appeals dismissed a petition for compulsory discipline against attorney Lloyd E. Humphreys, SBOT Card No. 10277020. On or about November 22, 1991 Humphreys was sentenced to prison for 18 months after being found guilty of willful attempt to evade or defeat a tax in violation of 26 U.S.C. §7201. The conviction was final. BODA cause number 00766. The Chief Disciplinary Counsel appealed the dismissal to the Supreme Court of Texas in case no. D-3811 and the dismissal was reversed, finding that tax evasion is an Intentional Crime as defined in the Texas Rules of Disciplinary Procedure and Humphreys was disbarred.
