On April 25,2013, the Board of Disciplinary Appeals dismissed for want of prosecution the appeal of Beaumont attorney Robert J. Smith, 47, State Bar of Texas Card No.00789634, from a judgment of disbarment signed on September 27, 2011 by the Evidentiary Panel for the State Bar of Texas District 3A grievance committee in Case Nos.H0070724770, H0090725125 and H0040826456. Smith did not file a brief and the Board issued an Order to Show Cause to Smith on February 14, 2013. The Show Cause Order gave him 30 days to respond and show cause as to why the appeals should not be dismissed for want of prosecution. Smith responded and requested his fifth extension of time to file his brief. His request was granted but no brief was filed. BODA cause number 49420.
