Rudy K. Metayer’s term as a member of the Board expired on Friday, June 23, 2023, pursuant to Texas Rule of Disciplinary Procedure 7.01, as he was sworn in as a Representative of District 9 on the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors. The Board congratulates Rudy on his election to the Board of Directors and thanks him for his tireless service to BODA, the Bar, and the legal profession.
Except when a notice of hearing or order of the Board states otherwise, all proceedings before the Board of Disciplinary Proceedings shall be conducted in the courtroom of the Supreme Court of Texas, in Austin. Parties and counsel should expect to appear in person to participate in hearings.
The Supreme Court of Texas appointed Jennifer Caughey of Houston, Arthur C. D’Andrea of Austin, and Andrew D. Graham of Dallas to the Board of Disciplinary Appeals on August 30, 2022. All terms began September 1, 2022.
The Supreme Court of Texas appointed Courtney Schmitz of McKinney on June 14, 2022. Ms. Schmitz replaces Cindy Tisdale who resigned from the Board on May 3, 2022 because she was recently elected State Bar of Texas President Elect. We thank Ms. Tisdale for her service on the Board!
The Supreme Court of Texas appointed Jason Boatright of Dallas, David Iglesias of Tyler and W.C. "Bud" Kirkendall of Seguin to the Board of Disciplinary Appeals on October 12, 2021. All terms began October 12, 2021.
The Supreme Court of Texas reappointed Kelli M. Hinson of Dallas, Michael C. Gross of San Antonio, and Nancy J. Stone of Amarillo to the Board of Disciplinary Appeals. The Board of Disciplinary Appeals is pleased to announce Matthew Greer as its new Deputy Director & Counsel. Matthew brings to BODA significant civil and appellate litigation experience, with extensive experience with the attorney disciplinary system. He is board certified in civil appellate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and previously served as appellate counsel in over 70 disciplinary appeals before the Board, the courts of appeal

On June 29, 2020, the Supreme Court of Texas issued its Eighteenth Emergency Order Regarding the COVID-19 State of Disaster. The Court’s order does not contain any additional extensions to deadlines in attorney professional disciplinary and disability proceedings. However, the extensions set forth in the Court’s Seventeenth Emergency Order continue to apply.
